Approach:

To me, creating music is really listening for music inside a moment. It is always there when I try to hear it. I am fascinated by trying to follow where it is going and what it will do next. Any quiet enough moment, any mood, any intention can provide this experience.

Though it can live on beyond its intended purpose, as a composer I believe that the best music fulfills a specific need at a specific place and context, with a certain performer or group playing for a certain audience.

If music is to be understood as “universal,” then it must first be profoundly rooted in the particular.
